General Guidance

GENERAL PUBLIC GUIDANCE

  • Get vaccinated and stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines. COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing from getting severely sick, hospitalized and death. Getting vaccinated is also the best way to slow the spread.
  • Wear a properly fitting mask over your nose and mouth indoors in public areas. If you are sick or caring for someone with COVID-19 wear a mask. If you have an increased risk for severe illness, or live with someone with a higher risk, speak to your healthcare provider about wearing a mask.
  • Talk to your healthcare provider about additional precautions you may take to protect yourself and others.
  • Stay 6 feet away from others who are sick, if possible.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid poorly ventilated spaces and crowds, bring in fresh air by opening windows and doors, if possible.
  • Test to prevent spread to others. A positive test means you have an infection and should isolate from others.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes, if you are wearing a mask, put on a new one as soon as possible and wash your hands. If you are not wearing a mask, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue, throw away used tissues in the trash and immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or clean your hands with hand sanitizer.
  • Clean and disinfect high frequency touch areas.
  • Monitor your health and be alert for COVID-19 related symptoms.
