The OC Free Gun Lock Program provides free firearm locks to Orange County residents, helping prevent unauthorized access and reduce the risk of accidents. This program is open to all residents, with priority given to households in the Fourth District.

Locks will be mailed directly to your home, along with an educational insert on how to use the lock safely. For more detailed instructions, scan the QR code included with your lock or watch the video tutorial below.
By using these locks, you’ll be equipped to comply with current California Gun Laws, including California Penal Code Sections § 25100 - §25140, which states firearm owners are required to securely store firearms to prevent access by children. Failure to do so can result in serious legal consequences, including felony charges. You’ll also be prepared for upcoming California firearm safety laws, including SB 53, which requires secure firearm storage starting in 2026.
